Library services
UD Mobile Web already includes links to athletics, exam schedules, shuttle bus schedules, campus maps, events, game day live, news and people search.
IT recommends technology options for course continuity after Hurricane Irene
Sakai@UD, Google Docs, Google Sites, UD Capture, PO Box, UD Dropbox and other tools can facilitate communication between faculty and students during a regular semester and during unusual circumstances. Visit IT's Technology Options for Course Continuity Web page for more information.
New active learning pilot classrooms on campus
Imagine a classroom without a “front of the room” that predetermines how you teach. Imagine a setting where students participate fully in their work groups, and those groups collaborate easily with each other. Imagine orchestrating group work as you move around the classroom instead of being tethered to your laptop.
Imagine an iPad -- preloaded with software that supports your teaching -- is available in the room. You can use the iPad to wirelessly project to a screen, seamlessly mirroring applications, presentations and annotations.
But, most importantly, all your students are engaged in active learning.
Sakai reminder: Check your Web browser settings!
The IT Sakai team has released reminders for all UD faculty and students who will be using Sakai this fall. Most important: Check your Web browser's cache settings.
Deadline for UD Capture signup is Aug. 29
IT Academic Technology Services (IT-ATS) continues to offer the UD Capture service for faculty. This free service records course content for faculty and students to review at any point in time.
“Faculty tell us that UD Capture helps them use class time more efficiently, refine their teaching styles and make better use of guest speakers,” Paul Hyde, IT-ATS, said. He added that students are using the system to “review before tests and exams, catch up on missed classes and control the pace of their learning.”
Students: Wireless access available in all UD residence halls
Students have wireless access to the Internet from all residence hall rooms and common areas.
Students: What to bring to campus
Housing and Assignment Services lists what students should bring to their residence hall rooms. There are a few technology-related items you should remember: Computers: An Ethernet cable and surge suppressor are required. Since UD now provides wireless access in all residence halls, do not bring a wireless access point and do bring a USB cable to connect your printer. Television: A coaxial cable and etiher a TV or DVR with an NTSC tuner are required.
